Working Principle

The boom floats on the water’s surface via buoyancy. Together with the underwater curtain skirt and bottom ballast chain, it forms a continuous flexible barrier that provides dual containment above and below the waterline, preventing the spread of oil spills, sediment, and floating debris. Meanwhile, its tension-resistant structure withstands water current impacts to maintain the barrier’s shape and position.

  1. Tension Cable: Reinforced cable runs through the boom to withstand water current and tension, preventing stretching or tearing.

  2. Foam Filled Floatation Chamber: Provides buoyancy to keep the boom afloat, maintaining the freeboard (above-water height) to contain floating contaminants.

  3. Curtain Skirt: The vertical PVC panel extending below the waterline blocks submerged oil, silt, and debris, preventing them from passing under the boom.

  4. Ballast Chain: Attached to the bottom of the skirt to keep it vertical, ensuring the curtain stays in place even in flowing water.
